I figure there are lots of good folks on all sides of an issue. Decent people that read or hear facts and interpret them differently based on their view of the world. So why is it that liberals will start calling conservatives names at the drop of a hat?

The current darling of the left, Cindy Sheehan, is quoted calling the President "that filth-spewer and warmonger." She has compared the Secretary of State to Stalin and Hitler. She has pontificated that "Our country has been overtaken by murderous thugs....gangsters who lust after fortunes and power." It goes on and on and on. I guess those elections where we the people voted really didn't count.

Not a bit of dialogue. No reasoned arguments just hate spewing forth for another liberals mouth. It makes me believe that the true fascists are all hiding in the liberal camp. They cannot tolerate disagreement. They cannot abide reasoned argument.

Least we all forget, the word NAZI is short for the National Workers Socialist Party. Yes, a socialist political party. Hmm, I wonder how that fits into the left's world view?

My first rule of reasoned argument. The first person to accuse the other of being a Nazi loses.

I don't believe it. The city council stepped back from the abyss and decided to close the issue of taking over the redevelopment commission. I wonder what part of this is smarts or cowardice? After the local newspaper came out dead set against this stupid idea it seems the gang of three with ambition toward higher office realized the negative publicity outweighed their greed. Hardly worth giving them a slap on the back.

I can't believe our city council. A lament heard in every city in every country where representative democracy has taken hold. No one should be an elected official voluntarily. The best people should be dragged by their heels into the job and then they should want to finish and get done with it as quickly as possible. It should be more like jury duty; something to get out of if at all possible.
The naked ambition exhibited by the current crowd in Long Beach is quite unsettling. A chance to give themselves bigger salaries, create pork barrel projects to enhance their image within their districts has apparently overcome the idea of actually serving the people who live and work in this city. I imagine I will have more to say in the near future.
